Private Tours:
What Does "Private Tour" Mean?:
Private tours (as "private" transportation) are completely different things to "group" tours (or "group" transportation). Although both can be very satisfying, with a private tour you have much more control over what you want to see, eat, when you want to stop (including bathroom stops) and receive the full attention of your guide for general questions or more in depth information over the sights you are seeing. As a client, you set the agenda for the day. There are no schedules keep and nobody else to drop off clear across town when you are the last stop (which sometimes can take hours depending on traffic). Casa Holanda is not only a great place to stay, it can be a place where you take that personal touch you've come to know and have it guide you to nearby sites in the Central Valley of Costa Rica. You do not have to be a guest to schedule one of our private tours. Please contact us for more information.
As you scroll down, you will find
more detailed information about each of our
private tours.

The Volcán Poás and
La Paz Waterfall Tour: Poás: angry, elusive, and more importantly, very active. Curve up winding mountain roads, ascending meter by meter to spectacular views of the valley below, to this ultimate nature adventure. After you see its impressive crater, walk trails through forests filled with bromeliads and hummingbirds. Then take a turn off the road and descend down into the depths of an emerald green canyon to view the mighty La Paz waterfall.
We offer an
optional, additional tour to the La Paz
Waterfall Gardens where you can view four other
natural waterfalls that lead into La Paz. View and
learn about Costa Rica's plants, butterflies,
hummingbirds, snakes, and poisonous frogs.

Land of Coffee, Cartago/
Mountains of Tarrazu Cultural Tour: First see the Basilica and Ruins of Cartago, then visit our remote cabin in the middle of coffee fields. A truly cultural tour you won't find with anyone else. The Tarrazu region (aka "Los Santos" valley) is south of Cartago. During your time there we provide lunch and demonstration of how coffee is harvested. Choose between picking coffee with Indians, hike majestic mountains, or simply sit on the cabin's balcony and soak up the atmosphere. To end the day, fish for your dinner at a local dive by the river and full of Costa Rican flavor, including roosters that sing with the music. >>Return to Summary For scenes from Casa Holanda's private Tarrazu Mountain Cultural Tour, click here. Tirimbina Sarapiquí Rainforest
Tour:
We have everything but the beach here in Casa Holanda. We can take you up to volcanoes and the clouds and down into the steamy, tropical jungles of the Sarapiquí River Valley. There you can see crocodiles, sloths, howler monkeys, and capucines. For a little extra, Biologist guides from the park take you across a giant suspension into the Reserve to give you detailed information about the different plants and dangers of the rainforest.
Not only do you support the tourism
industry by taking a trip to Tirimbina, you also
help the local economy and education of local
school children, which money from the Reserve
helps.
